Vignette release notes September 5, 2026
Reusable timelines and questionnaires, temporary RAW handoffs, smarter team coordination, and a more polished client experience.
New this week
Planning gets a reusable template library
The new Planning workspace gives you reusable starting points for event timelines and client questionnaires. Create, edit, duplicate, and archive templates without changing plans already attached to bookings. Timeline templates hold ordered events, while questionnaire templates support text, yes-or-no, single-choice, multiple-choice, date, and time responses with required fields and independently editable options.
Learn howBuild the complete day-of timeline
Timeline events can include a start time, duration, location, internal notes, client visibility, and the team members covering that part of the shoot. Events sort chronologically while still supporting simultaneous coverage, and deliberate custom ordering remains available. Verified addresses can add estimated drive time and a suggested departure time between non-overlapping events, while freeform locations remain valid and never receive guessed travel guidance.
Learn howAdd planning directly to a booking
Full-session bookings now include a Planning card where you can start from a template or begin with a blank timeline or questionnaire. Each attached plan becomes an independent booking snapshot, so future template edits cannot rewrite a real client workflow. A booking can hold one timeline and several questionnaires, with focused View and Edit experiences and inline removal that leaves the reusable source template intact.
Learn howShare a client-ready timeline when it is ready
New booking timelines stay private until you explicitly share them. You can decide which individual events are client-visible, send a studio-branded timeline-ready email to the existing booking link, and stop sharing later without deleting the plan. Clients see only the approved events, notes, locations, assigned crew names and roles, and applicable travel guidance—never hidden events, contact details, internal planning data, or template history.
Learn howQuestionnaires become resumable client tasks
Sharing a questionnaire adds it to the client’s existing booking page and sends a branded email instead of creating another destination. Clients can save valid partial answers, leave, and continue later from the same durable link. Submission unlocks after every question has an answer, then both the client and photographer retain a read-only response review. If corrected legacy data leaves a submitted questionnaire incomplete, the photographer can reopen it without erasing saved answers.
Learn howKeep the team coordinated around the plan
Assign booking team members to individual timeline events and let Vignette account holders review their current timeline from the calendar, including event notes, assigned teammates, copyable locations, and travel or departure guidance. Booking and timeline changes roll into one 5:00 AM studio-time update instead of a message for every edit, with Send update now for urgent changes and separate seven-day and day-before reminders.
Learn howTemporary RAW handoff lives inside the booking
Every eligible booking team assignment now includes a private RAW file handoff, including assistants and other non-photographer roles. On or after the shoot date, contributors with Vignette accounts can upload from their calendar; guests can use a secure link without creating an account. The Team card keeps each person’s request state, upload progress, submitted files, and owner download actions together beneath that assignment.
Learn howRAW requests, reminders, and cleanup run themselves
Studios can automatically ask team members on the shoot date to upload photos or other files when they have something to share, while manual send and resend remain available. Resending replaces older guest links, each guest link lasts 14 days, and notification settings provide separate controls for requests, upload reminders, files-ready notices, download reminders, and deletion notices. The first owner download starts a seven-day cleanup window, and every exchange has a 30-day maximum lifetime so temporary files do not linger indefinitely.
Learn howThe client booking link becomes a lasting home
Clients can return to the same booking link to review session details, see a shared timeline, complete questionnaires, confirm the booking, sign, make available installment payments, and reopen completed receipts. Desktop uses a compact sticky review-and-tasks rail, while mobile uses a horizontally scrollable Jump to row that follows the section being read and keeps upcoming tasks visible without unlocking them early.
Learn howFixes and refinements
Portrait gallery covers keep their natural proportions
Portrait-oriented gallery covers are now centered and capped at 76% of the visible screen height on larger displays instead of being stretched into an oversized landscape frame. Landscape and square covers keep their full-width presentation, and mobile covers continue to use the available width.
Learn howBooking previews preserve your working context
Preview as client now opens in the current tab instead of leaving an extra browser tab behind. The preview includes the same Back control used by gallery previews, returning through browser history to restore the booking drawer or falling back safely to the Bookings workspace when the preview was opened directly.
Learn howPlanning editors keep long schedules understandable
Changing an event time moves it to the correct chronological position, simultaneous events retain their intended order, and a manual sequence that conflicts with event times receives a clear Out of sequence warning. Only one event or question expands at a time, newly selected items move into view, add controls remain within reach, and duration fields can be cleared and retyped before validation.
Learn howLocations and task navigation behave consistently
Timeline times use the same accessible 15-minute picker as the rest of scheduling, and recognized addresses use the shared location search. Street addresses can be copied from planning and team-calendar views, while web meeting links open in a new tab. Client-page scroll tracking now keeps the active timeline, questionnaire, confirmation, signing, or payment shortcut aligned with the section actually being reviewed, including on mobile.
