Vignette gives every active booking team member a private, temporary place to send original camera files or other shoot files to the primary photographer. The handoff is part of the booking’s Team card and does not need to be enabled for each person.
Prepare the team handoff
Add a team member to an eligible booking and send their invitation. Vignette creates a separate submission for each active assignment, including second shooters, assistants, associate photographers, videographers, and content creators.
The upload request uses conditional wording, so a person who has no files to contribute does not need to take action. Turn Automatic RAW requests on or off in studio settings to control the first shoot-date request. You can still send or resend a request from the person’s booking row.
Upload as a team member
A team member with a verified Vignette account can open the assignment on Calendar and use its upload action on or after the shoot date.
A contributor without a Vignette account receives a secure guest link. Guest links expire after 14 days. A reminder or resend creates a fresh link, and a manual resend invalidates the older link.
From the upload page:
- Choose the original files to contribute.
- Start the upload and keep the page open while file bytes are transferring.
- Review any failed file without losing the successful uploads.
- Submit the completed files.
Files upload directly to private temporary storage. They do not become gallery images, enter gallery processing, or count as permanent gallery storage.
Download a completed submission
After the contributor submits ready files, the primary photographer receives an in-app notice and, when enabled, an email.
- Open the booking’s Team card.
- Find the matching team member.
- Select Download all.
Vignette starts a browser download for every ready original in that person’s submission. It does not build a ZIP, and there are no separate owner download controls for individual files. Files that are failed, still uploading, or already deleted are not included.
Your browser may ask permission before starting several downloads. Allow downloads for Vignette so the complete batch can begin.
Understand deletion dates
The first Download all request starts a seven-day deletion window for that team member’s complete submission. Repeating the action can refresh short-lived download access, but it does not extend the deletion date.
All handoff files also have an absolute storage limit of 30 days after the booking’s shoot date. The earlier deadline applies. After the deadline, authorization stops immediately and Vignette permanently removes the temporary files.
The booking row shows the deletion date after the first download. Keep your own backed-up copy before that date.
Manage handoff notifications
Open Account → Notifications to review separate in-app and email preferences for:
- RAW upload requests
- Upload reminders
- Files-ready notices
- Download reminders
- Deletion notices
The studio-wide automatic-request setting controls scheduled first requests. Notification preferences control how eligible messages reach each Vignette user.
Important: RAW handoff is temporary transfer storage, not an archive. Confirm every file has downloaded and is backed up before the displayed deletion date.
