The gallery editor controls how your collection is presented to clients and how you find it later.
The top of every gallery shows its name, photo count, and the Manage, Settings, My favorites, and Client favorites tabs, with Share, Preview, and Add images on the right.
Change the gallery name or client
Open the gallery and select the Settings tab. In Gallery details, type a new Gallery name and press Enter, or search for a Client. Select + New Contact to add someone who isn't in People yet.
Assigning a client connects the gallery to that person’s history. It does not automatically share the gallery or send an invitation.
Set the cover image
Use either available method:
- Drag an existing gallery image into the cover area.
- Choose or drop a new image for the cover.
- Open a photo's … menu and select Set as gallery cover.
Wait for the saved confirmation before leaving. A newly uploaded cover also becomes part of the gallery.
Gallery cover images keep their natural orientation. On larger screens, portrait covers are centered and limited in height so the client can see the full presentation without an oversized crop.
Reorder photos
Drag images into the preferred order. On a smaller screen, use the available selection and movement controls when dragging is not practical.
Open View as a client after a large reorder to confirm the story flows correctly.
Create and arrange albums
Albums divide a gallery into sections such as “Getting Ready,” “Ceremony,” and “Reception.”
- Select Add Album.
- Vignette adds a new empty section named Album.
- Select the album name and enter a short client-friendly name.
- Drag photos into the album or use its upload control.
- Open the album-order action and arrange the albums in the preferred sequence.
Deleting an album should be treated separately from deleting its photos. Read the confirmation shown in the app before continuing.
The first photo in an album becomes its automatic cover and follows photo reordering. To choose a fixed cover, open a photo’s menu and select Set as album cover. The chosen photo receives a star marker and stays as the cover when you later reorder the album.
Use the cover-position editor to move the visible 4:3 crop over the complete source image and place the focal point. Vignette applies that saved position in the gallery editor, album-order view, photographer preview, and client gallery. If you remove the chosen cover photo, the album returns to its first photo with a centered position.
In a full gallery release, ready photos in Gallery Photos and ready photos inside albums can appear to clients. Albums add chapters; they are not required for delivery. A sneak peek is different: it shows only its chosen photos and cover as one simple set.
Sort a group of photos
Select Sort by beside Gallery Photos or an album. You can sort that group by:
- File name, A to Z or Z to A
- Date taken, Oldest first or Newest first
- Randomize
Each group has its own saved order. Sorting an album does not rearrange another album. Date taken uses the photo's camera date when it is available and falls back to the upload date.
After sorting, open the client preview. A sort can change the story of the gallery even when no photo was added or removed.
Add tags
Tags help you filter and search your own gallery list. Use consistent terms such as “wedding,” “family,” “studio,” or a season.
Type a tag in Gallery details and press Enter. Tags are normalized so variations in capitalization and spacing remain consistent. For example, "Fall 2026" is saved as "fall-2026".
Find galleries and albums later
On the main Galleries page, combine these tools to narrow the list:
- All, Favorite, Recent, Shared, or Expired
- One or more tags
- A created-date range
- One or more album names
- Newest-first or oldest-first sorting
Select Filter to open these choices, then select Show to apply them. The button shows how many galleries match. Select Sort to switch between newest first and oldest first.
The active choices appear as removable filters. Clear all returns to every gallery, no date limit, and newest first.
An album filter can show one card for each matching gallery and album. Selecting that card opens the matching album inside the gallery.
Select several photos
Select the circle on each photo, or use Select All beside a group. A bar appears at the bottom with the number selected and these actions:
- Create makes a new album from the selected photos.
- Add to sneak peek adds them to the sneak peek, when it is turned on.
- Move to moves them to another album.
- Delete removes them.
- Deselect clears the selection.
Confirm the number selected before using a destructive action.
Good to know: Gallery organization changes the presentation, but client access is controlled separately through sharing.
What Vignette does behind the scenes
The editor saves the order as a list of photos, not as a renamed copy of each file. If saving a drag or sort fails, Vignette puts the last saved order back and tells you what happened.
Gallery covers keep a saved focal point. That is why the same face or subject can stay in view on the editor, album card, preview, and client page even when those cards have different sizes.
