Payments & Finance

Set Up Online Payments

Connect Stripe, complete required business details, and check whether payments are ready.

Online payments allow clients to pay booking installments by card. Vignette uses Stripe to securely collect and pay out funds.

Connect your payment account

  1. Open Payments from the main navigation.
  2. Find Payment account.
  3. Start or continue Stripe setup.
  4. Complete the business, identity, bank, and tax information requested by Stripe.
  5. Return to Vignette and review the status.

Vignette does not collect your bank login or complete Stripe’s identity review on your behalf.

Understand readiness

Your payment account may show that information or action is still required. Open the Stripe setup link and complete every outstanding item.

Online payment collection depends on the account’s current capabilities. A connected account is not necessarily ready until required verification is complete.

The status can move back to Action required if Stripe later needs updated information. Vignette shows the action the account can take instead of guessing from an older status label.

Until online payments are ready, clients still see their payment schedule, with a note that you will share how to pay. Record those payments yourself as they arrive.

Turn online payments on or off

Use Accept online payments to control whether eligible booking workflows offer card payment.

Turning online payments off prevents new online collection. It does not erase existing payment history or remove money already being processed.

Use payments on a booking

After the payment account is ready:

  1. Open a booking.
  2. Enable payments.
  3. Create the installment schedule.
  4. Confirm totals and due dates.

5. Preview the client workflow.

The booking total and payment-plan total should agree before you invite the client.

Keep account information current

Return to the payment account when Stripe requests updated verification or when your business or bank details change.

Use Manage account to open Stripe's secure account page. Vignette does not display your complete bank details or identity documents.

Understand processing fees

The payment-account page includes a simple fee guide with estimated Stripe costs for common payment methods. These are examples, not a promise of the final fee.

The cost can change because of the payment method, card country, currency conversion, connected-account country, or special Stripe pricing. Standard bank payouts and optional faster payouts can also have different costs.

Vignette does not add a platform fee to client or contractor payments. Stripe may charge and keep its own processing or payout fee.

What Vignette does behind the scenes

Stripe tells Vignette whether the account can accept charges and receive payouts. Vignette saves a simple readiness state and the actions that are currently safe to show. Bank account numbers, identity documents, and payment-provider secrets are not copied into the normal Vignette screens.

Turning online payments off stops new checkout sessions. It does not erase payment history or interrupt money that is already processing.

Security reminder: Complete Stripe setup only through the secure account link opened from Vignette. Vignette support will not ask you to send a password, full card number, or bank login by email.
